This complex composite photograph was inspired by an old King Kong poster. It started with a great can-do model with a fitting sense of humor. Then all the other pieces came together in Seattle, with one exception. The gorillas in the Woodland Park Zoo hid behind a bamboo patch for three straight hours. When I returned to DC at the end of summer, I went to the National Zoo, with fingers crossed. Within 10 minutes a grand silverback lumbered out and posed for me.
