Flooding
Although not a particularly pretty sight, flooding is an essential natural phenomenon that scours and cleans the river, and brings sediment and seeds from way upriver. The brown color is from the sediment - it is not "dirty" water.
Full flooding brings 30 times the volume of water at low water! Many river access points are closed during flooding, so it is often not possible to photograph anything.
